Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur hosted the Albert Barrow Memorial Creative Writing Competition 2026 (Category I- Classes XI & XII) on 13 July 2026. The prestigious inter-school literary event witnessed the participation of 16 schools, providing a platform for budding writers to showcase their creativity and literary skills.
The programme began with a brief introduction to the life and contributions of Mr. Albert Barrow, the Founder Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), whose remarkable contribution to Indian education continues to inspire young learners.
The participants were then acquainted with the rules and regulations of the competition. They were informed that the use of books, magazines, reference material, mobile phones, internet services, tablets, dongles, or any other electronic devices was strictly prohibited. The competition consisted of 30 minutes of preparation time followed by one hour of writing, with a prescribed word limit of 700–1000 words.
The participants chose one of the following topics for their creative writing:
• The Illusion of Endless Resources
• A Day in the Life of a Climate Refugee
• A Conversation among the Rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati
• 2050: The World We Will Inhabit
The competition witnessed an atmosphere of deep concentration as participants translated their ideas into thoughtful and imaginative compositions. The event successfully fostered creativity, critical thinking, and environmental awareness while paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Albert Barrow.
