The Enchanted Forest Storytelling Session by Ms. Rituparna Ghosh

‘The greatest art in the world is the art of storytelling’- Cecil B Demille

The quote stands true with Ms Rituparna Ghosh. I got an opportunity to meet Ma’am during the Round Square Conference 2023 at the Lawrence School Sanawar.

Ms. Rituparna Ghosh needs no introduction, she is a story digger, story gatherer, story extractor, story spotter…..she is anything but just a storyteller!

This exciting storytelling session was conducted in the part of the school which the Sanawarians proudly call ‘The Warriors Grove’. As we entered, we were awestruck to see all the beautifying decorations. As I sat awaiting the session , I felt as if I was sitting in a forest but of course, how could this forest become an enchanted forest without Ms. Ghosh’s fascinating stories. As soon as Ma’am entered the amphitheatre, there was complete silence as if some magic was about to happen.

She revealed that she was going to narrate not 1 but 2 stories.

The first story was about a Harbola ( a person who makes sounds like animals ) which was when I realized that she was no less than a Harbola herself! The way she narrated her story elevated us to a different much more peaceful world.

The second story was a one that she dedicated to her hometown which was much heartfelt. I was amazed by how quickly she could change her voice tones and expressions. At the end of the event, I managed to get a picture clicked with her.

I left the grove with her stories that I carry with me everywhere.
