Report on Educational Field Visit to Bithoor by EVS students

Top School in Kanpur

As part of Environmental Science (EVS) learning, Environmental science students of grade 11 along with their subject teacher-Ms Talat Jafri ,undertook an educational field visit to Bithoor on Saturday, 8 August 2026. The visit provided them with an opportunity to understand the local environment through direct observation, water testing, biodiversity study, and interaction with local people.

The students visited Brahmavart Ghat and Atal Ghat, where they observed and compared the condition of the river and its surroundings. One of the major activities conducted was testing the pH of water ,turbidity ,temperature and TDS of water . The water appeared visibly dirty, highlighting the need for greater attention towards maintaining the quality and cleanliness of the river.

The visit also allowed the students to observe the local flora and fauna. They saw several plants, fishes, insects, and other forms of life around the ghats which helped them appreciate the biodiversity present in the area.

As part of their field study, the students interviewed  local priests , who shared information about the area, its development, and the funds allocated towards the maintenance and development of the temple and surrounding areas. This interaction helped them understand the social, cultural, and administrative aspects connected with the site.

Overall, the field visit was an informative and enriching experience. It helped the students  connect the concepts studied in EVS with real-world observations and practical activities. The visit enhanced their understanding of water quality, river conditions, biodiversity, rainfall-related changes, and the relationship between human activities and the environment.
