Life’s Tenancy: Our Stewardship of Earth

It has been rightly said by the erstwhile Prime Minister of Britain Margaret Thatcher “No generation has a freehold on this Earth, all we have is a life tenancy with a full repairing lease.” Which actually means that it is our moral duty to keep our Earth neat, clean, pure and beautiful if not more than at least in the same condition that it was when we came here.

It all started when a few politicians of New Zealand formed the ‘Green Party’ that we started thinking about Earth as a living breathing organism. So, we need to take care of it as we do for ourselves. From this as a start, we began to employ the word ‘sustainability’ which implies that we need to use our Earth’s resources in such a manner that the next generation can also enjoy the same resources.

Towards this sustainable goal, the Jaipurians are trying to fulfill our responsibility, firstly we are trying to make our city green by our yearly plantation drive where we identify and then plant saplings and also try to maintain them.

Before the Diwali break, we organized a fair to help the underprivileged of the society by ensuring local handicraftsmen get their due. The fair was a huge success with students of all classes participating. All the handmade products brought by the craftsmen were completely sold. The fair was “HAAT SE HEART TAK’ with a tagline of ‘Vocal for Local’.
